1. Terry Says

In these columns recently I have touched on a few important topics in my life as a pro gambler and today I am looking at using systems to make money betting.

Betting systems in my experience are like marmite, in that we either love or hate them and very often punters will be divided over how important they can be. Personally I love em, but only up to a point as when it comes to systems, be it racing, football or water-polo, you really have to be so fussy about what you follow in with your hard-earned.

Actually putting together a system that works on paper is pretty easy, the hard part is getting it to work with real money over a prolonged period of time. The selectivity comes in when you need to check out which systems actually are kosher and haven’t been curve-fitted to generate unrealistic profits. By curve-fitting I mean for example racing systems that with no apparent reason suggest you don’t include 5 yr old horses as that age range makes a loss, but include all other age-ranges.

Even worse in my eyes are those systems that are thrown together because they seem to make logical sense, applying a whole bunch of seemingly sensible filters to picking out a football or racing bet. The problem is very often so many of these systems have no proven past results that actually state they work and it’s just the author assuming that they do. Following any system based simply on assumptions like that is a very quick way to the poorhouse, your probably better just burning a bunch of tenners!

Systems though can be a damn effective method when it comes to making a pretty penny or two; especially I find when it comes to the sport of Kings. I have a few corking systems I follow as part of my own portfolio, some of which are now available at our new Pro System Guide website: www.prosystemguide.com. Listed for sale there at very fair prices are 4 different systems that have performed to a high standard over the past year (with real money!) and come with years and years of backtracked (not curve-fitted either) results. These are systems we have developed and designed ourselves and expect to hear more about this website and how you can benefit from it in the near future.

In a side-note, be sure to check out the regular free money bookmaker offers that follow at the tail of each email, the bookies are falling over each other with a whole bunch of offers and this week we highlight one where you make £68.94 risk-free. If you like these offers you can get a more detailed email every Friday (for free) with more of these in by visiting our Friday Freebie page.

Until next Friday…

2. The Next Week In Betting

This week I have been working extremely hard, day and night putting in the hours of required research needed to make an edge in one of my favourite annual betting markets. It’s been tough and I have been sweating bullets, but the Miss World contest has required a huge amount of ‘Allen Analysis’ to try and narrow down a winner. Sadly it’s a challenge in which I have failed to pick a winner with such a massive field and plenty of outstanding candidates. Our own representative from blighty, Miss England is a best priced 100/1 with Boylesports if any of you Englishmen out there fancy a patriotic punt.

Cricket is thankfully back on the agenda and a lot of credit to the England boys for going back out to India, when many, myself included would have anticipated the series to have been cancelled. England have made a fist of it over the first 2 days and have India on the backfoot with my boy Graeme Swann making a glorious start to his test career with 2 wickets in his first over. I am avoiding any bets on this first test and probably the series as there are too many unknowns to ponder, but if England can get something from Chennai that would be quite an achievement. Bearing in mind how the Aussies took a pasting in the tests by the Indians, it helps serve as an excellent appetizer for next years Ashes.

The big game football wise this weekend lies away from England, over in Spain as Real Madrid and Barcelona take each other on in ‘El Classico’. It’s made all the more interesting following the appointment of ex-Spurs boss Juande Ramos as new head honcho at Real Madrid. Change was needed at the Bernabeu as previous Madrid boss, Bernd Schuster was a dead man walking for many weeks and it will be very interesting to see if the new manager can galvanise the Galacticos when they visit the Nou Camp. The bookies don’t think so though with Stan James offering a best priced 11/2 on a Madrid win. Markets worth looking at include the number of goals as both teams have been scoring and conceding (in Madrid’s case) like its going out of fashion. Over 2.5 goals is best priced 4/7 with Blue Square which looks a bit on the short side to me and to me it’s worth a look at over 4.5 goals at 100/30 with Sporting Bet.

Back in England, plucky Hull travel up to Anfield for the first time ever in the Premier League and the bookies have them at 9/1 despite their excellent form this season. Taking on Liverpool at home is never easy but I had success in the Asian Handicap market with Fulham and their 0-0 draw a few weeks back and fancy the same again for the tigers. Hull with a +1.5 handicap at 22/25 with Canbet looks a punt to me.

3. Tipping Legends Column

The Tipping Legends are 2 horse racing specialists who both have an in-depth knowledge of the sport and will be supplying a full rundown of some of the weekend's feature races and betting angles. These guys know their stuff when it comes to racing, ignore at your peril.

The All Weather has always been a fertile punting ground in the winter & especially at Kempton.

Kempton is the only right handed track on the AW circuit & it also has the longest straight on the polytrack. These 2 factors mean its a different type of horse that prospers here than at Lingfield, Wolves & Great Leighs. Many punters don't factor in these track differences when betting on the All Weather. At Lingfield for example, the straight is so short its very difficult to come from behind to win, but at Kempton, the extra furlong in the straight allows certain horses to get into their stride & win. Horses like Muktasb & Dvinsky come to mind.

One other key aspect is the draw. Over sprint distances a high draw is a big advantage as most sprint races have 10-12 runners so if you don't break at speed you may be racing 4 or 5 wide around the turn. Thooe dropped in have to find 6 lengths with those that have grabbed an early pitch. This bias is so pronounced that you will often see non runners from those drawn 1 or 2 as the trainer knows its fate before the start of the race.

A statistical look at certain races can show this to be true:-

I tactic I use at tricky courses such as here and at Chester is to look at 2 or 3yr old races & concentrate on the draw.

Why?

They are inexperienced animals & if you suddenly chuck them into a turn where 10 horses are scrabbling for position, then the favoured rail is a BIG help

Looking at the last 2 years at Kempton, for 5 furlong races for 2 or 3yr olds (for bigger fields the draw has more relevance) then we've had 14 races over 11 runners and 8 winners have come from stalls 11 & 12!!!

We can also see this in 2yr olds only races over 5f or 6f, as in 18 races we have had the max 12 runners go to post and 9 of the winners came from the top 2 stalls.

As you can see, the bias is huge!!

4. The Winabobatoo Weekender
Winabobatoo are English Premier League, Football League and Scottish Premier betting experts. Using their own excellent football system to pretty much 'Win a bob or two' for their members, they are sharing one of their 'star' bets every week with us. Star bets are their best rated, best value bets and worth following in with a few bob of your own.

Leicester have certainly made their mark on League One this season after being relegated from the Championship. Nott’m Forest and Leeds were unable to make the same impact after suffering the drop in recent seasons.

Teams have to play 6 qualifying games each season before my Winabobatoo ratings can get to grips with their current abilities, and Leicester have been top dogs in the division ever since game 6 was played. Carlisle were very strong at home last season but have suffered a slump in fortunes this time around.

The bookmakers tend to live in the past somewhat, and I suspect that if Carlisle hadn’t been so strong at home in the past, we wouldn’t be able to back Leicester at the price they are now.

Leicester would have to have an off day not to win. They should take home 3 points at least 50% of the time. This makes them worth the risk, and a value bet.

Have a bet on Leicester to beat Carlisle at 6/5 available with Bet Internet

Good luck with your betting.

5. Skeeve's Non-League

Skeeve is our resident Non-League betting expert who will be sharing with you his best advice for this weekend's domestic non-league card. What Skeeve doesn't know about all things semi-pro aint worth knowing and the bookies hate it as lets face it they know next-to nothing about football at this level.

Please check back next week for more non-league betting advice from Skeeve.

6. Give Yourself A Risk Free £68.94 Christmas Bonus

Well they say that Christmas is the time for giving and we have found 2 bookmakers who are giving more away than they are advertising.

Jaxx and Globetsport both have current £25 free bet and 2 x £25 free bet offers respectively and in both their T&C’s these are described as Stake Not Returned offers.  However everyone who has done them so far has reported that the free bet stakes are returned so that is enhanced bonuses for all.  Not sure how long it is going to be around for so I would jump on quick if I was you, like today!

Globetsport is featured on Oddsmatcher so no problem there.

For Jaxx, then get signed up using the link below and if you need to, then drop us an email at info@bet72.com and we can sort you out a few risk free options.

Here are the links you need for the offers:

Jaxx                 Free £25 bet

Globetsport      Free £25 bet (x2)

Be quick and enjoy this extra little bonus in time for Christmas.

Here’s an example of how you could play the
Jaxx bonus. A safe way would be to assume that jaxx will notice their error and not pay out stakes returned. This means we set up the free bet as we normally do and if they do return our stake then it’s a great £25 bonus.

Jaxx are offering a great £25 free bet for new sign ups on any bets with odds over 1.60.

Sign up to Jaxx

Deposit your money and back Arsenal against Middlesbrough this weekend at 1.80 for £25.
Lay Arsenal on Betfair at 1.83 for £25.28

Your net result will be -£0.98 no matter what happens. BUT you have a £25 free bet due.

Check your account for the free bet and then do the following using the free bet on the back side.

Back Arsenal against Middlesbrough at 1.80 for £25.
Lay Middlesbrough on Betfair at 1.83 for £11.50

Your net result will be +£10.45 no matter what happens.

That’s a £9.47 total profit without risking a penny!

If Jaxx are still playing ball and returning your stake and if Arsenal win (as seems likely), then you will receive and nice bonus of £25. Bringing your total profit to £34.47. Do the same with Globetsport and you will have a nice little Christmas bonus of up to £68.94 without risking a penny. Use a different bet with Globesport as the odds on Arsenal are not the same at the moment.

Remember to double check the terms and conditions and be aware that odds might change.

For more such offers sign-up to our regular Friday Freebie email.
