******************************************************************************** 1. Terry Says Welcome back to my regular Weekend Wager column which if you don’t know yet, is my regular take on the upcoming betting calendar with a few handy guest articles and bets thrown in for good measure. Firstly and a quick look back at the football bets supplied via the column last week and contrasting fortunes for Winabobatoo and Skeeve. Wigan failed to break down a resilient Stoke for Winabobatoo but Thurrock thrashed their opponents 6-0 to oblige for Skeeve. Interestingly it was an overall winning week for Winabobatoo members after he picked a few winners elsewhere and its well worth checking out his service if you like betting on footy. Earlier this week in an email, we touched briefly on some of the great lengths that dodgy tipsters will go to in order to part you and your hard-earned. It detailed a tipster service, D&E Associates which was revealed to be a massive scam at the High Court, where the person behind it, a Mr. Denis McCarthy from Hove, East Sussex had mislead punters to the tune of £300,000. What’s more despite being found guilty of misleading advertising and having made up the whole thing, he is still allowed to keep all the proceeds made from the promotion. Frankly the fact that Mr McCarthy is allowed to keep the proceedings is ridiculous and just goes to show how hard it is for innocent punters to know who is telling the truth. The East Sussex area is a haven for so many of these type of promotions and this is but the tip of a massive iceberg, with the police and OFT merely peeing in the wind when it comes to this problem. More can be found at: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/the-bespoke-bookie-who-ran-out-of-inside-track-989630.html In that article from the Independent, we even had the editor of the Racing Post quoted with the following: However what Bruce forgets to tell you is that his paper continues to allow unprofitable tipsters to advertise and they do not check important aspects like the availability of prices via their proofing. Therefore a tipster can claim a win at the largest available odds even if that price was only available for seconds. When it comes to proofing then do check out our very own racingproofing.com website which verifies and checks all odds quoted for each service and also lists every single bet in a transparent fashion. If we can do this, then surely a big newspaper such as the Racing Post which carries a huge responsibility to its readership base also can? Or are they more interested in advertising revenue than the everyday punter?? Until next Friday… Terry Allen
2. The Next Week In Betting Plenty of sporting action this weekend to get our teeth stuck into with a full Premiership fixture list, The India V England 1-day cricket series, the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham as well a host of interesting looking Rugby internationals. The oval ball is where I start with another England – Australia encounter at Twickenham as Martin Johnson has the first real test of his new reign. For me it’s a very tough one to call with so many new players and a new coach in place. The bookies equally are split on this with some like Sporting Bet offering Evens on both teams and others such as Paddy Power going 1.66 on England and 2.2 on Australia. Elsewhere we also have Ireland hosting the All Blacks at Croke Park and Scotland against world champions South Africa. Cricket is a real love of mine and especially so when it comes to betting. The 16/1 winner on Samit Patel in the 20/20 the other week was a sweetener to England’s woeful performance and I think I have a couple more value bets. I am relishing the one-day series between India and England which will be an intriguing clash, with the hosts fresh from their demolition of Australia and being led superbly by India’s favourite son, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. There will also be no Tendulkar for the first 3 games as he is rested and young pace sensation, Ishant Sharma is nursing an ankle injury, whereas England are struggling to get enough fit fast bowlers out on the pitch. As always spin is vital when it comes to playing anywhere in India and England really only have Graeme Swann as an out and out spin option as Samit Patel is predominantly a batsmen who bowls a bit. Swanny for my money would play in all 7 games and will be pushing for a starting spot in the test team. After today’s whitewash England clearly need more ideas in attack and I think a spinner would do the job well. Graeme Swann therefore might be worth a nibble at 14/1. Of course there is the risk that England go without a specialist spinner throughout the series but if they do on these turning pitches the management want shooting! This is something the Aussies know only too well after their 2-0 test series defeat.

5. The Winabobatoo Weekender Last week I advised you to bet on Wigan to beat Stoke. Despite Wigan having 22 shots at goal to Stoke’s 2 shots, they were unable to score. If we back the teams who create the most chances, we will win more often than not. I have a dilemma as to which game to give you this week. Last week my members were given 4 Star Bets, Wigan were one, and two of the others won (Bolton at Hull @ 11/4 and Ipswich at Blackpool @ 15/8.) Since September 2007, all the Star Bets have made over £900 profit from staking £10 on each. My task of selecting one this week isn’t made any easier as there are 11 Star Bets lined up for the weekend. The Star Bets are all priced 4/5 or bigger. This week the shortest price is even money and the longest price is 11/4. The longer-priced ones don’t win as often but we win more when they do. The shorter-priced ones win more often but we don’t get as much back on those. The unique Winabobatoo ratings help identify the games the bookmakers have priced up too highly, and this is the source of our long-term profits. Cardiff have a 58% chance of beating Crystal Palace, and the bookies are offering 11/10 about a Cardiff win. Cardiff’s true odds should only be 8/11. The bookmakers have over-priced Cardiff and we should take advantage. Have a bet on Cardiff to beat Crystal Palace at 11/10 (2.10) available with BetFred and BlueSquare. Hi everybody, Last weekend's free pick was succesful, Thurrock destroyed ten-men Basingstoke – it was 6:0 for the hosts (+3.2 units profit for everyone who staked 4 units), no injury-time equalisers, just the way I like it. I'm still a couple of units down in November though, so I've had another busy week. This is one of my picks for the non-league weekend: 15/11/2008 BLUE SQUARE NORTH AD-HOC DRAW-NO-BET: Farsley – TAMWORTH 2 (2.63 @Blue Square) 3 units & X (3.60 @StanJames) 1 unit Farsley had a great run since Parsley took over as manager, but if we take a look at the teams they managed to beat in the last few weeks (Hucknall, Hyde, King's Lynn, Gainsborough, Workington), we'll see that they're all practically relegation candidates (King's Lynn shouldn't have major relegation problems, but all the other teams could). The run already came to an end, two weeks ago, at home against another relegation candidates Vauxhall (0:1) and last Saturday's match away at Workington (2:0 for Farsley) would've probably looked a bit different if Workington have had all eleven players on the pitch for more than half an hour. Farsley already lost three home matches this season and this is going to be the toughest match for them so far. They will be without midfielder Watson, defender Jackson (both out for some time now), midfielder Prendergast who is suspended (not that big of a deal, because he's usually a sub – regularly used and quite useful sub though, the fans rate him highly, so it does reduce the options for Parsley and Farsley) and their joint best scorer Walshaw (that's a big deal, he scored eight goals so far, just like Campbell) who left the club to go two levels below BS North (probably greed) – not a good sign for Farsley and an important fact for us. Tamworth are currently BS North leaders and it looks like it's going to be them or Southport this season. They're still unbeaten away from home and they had six league wins in a row before that distracting FA Cup defeat to Barrow. Two league draws followed (0:0 vs Gainsborough, 2:2 at Stalybridge) and if Tamworth really want promotion, now is the time to start winning again. No1 goalkeeper Bevan returns after his suspension (he only missed the Stalybridge match) – defenders McAughtrie and Langdon and midfielder Pritchard are all fit again too, the whole defence should have a much easier task than they would have a week ago, now when Walshaw left Farsley (if they keep an eye on Campbell, they'll do half of the job), and as far as their attacking abilites are concerned, they scored 31 goal in 15 matches (no other team scored more), 17 goals in 8 away matches (no other team scored more away from home). Farsley's defence should have much more problems with Sheldon and Wright than with Hucknall's, Vauxhall's and Workington's forwards. We're improvising a draw-no-bet, we'll make +3.89 units profit in case of an away win and lose only -0.4 unit in case of a draw. (2.50 for an away win at Bet365 and Victor Chandler, 2.40 at Bwin, Paddy Power, Sportingbet... 3.60 for a draw also at Skybet...) Read our review of Skeeve's service
