Terry Says Doom and Gloom are the watch-words for most of us over here in the UK in the current economic slump but some people are still making a profit, and to prove the point, step forward William Hill PLC. In an announcement this week (see here) William Hill’s total gross income has grown 6% in 2008, which just goes to prove not everyone is suffering. Now, the rumour goes that gambling is one of those industries that actually improves during a recession, although sadly the vast majority of the extra income that comes in will only ever line the bookies (and their shareholders) pockets. Now I like to think that through our work here at the Secret Betting Club we impacted the Hills profit down from 6.1% to 6% solely through our actions! (Humour me!). The point remains though that there is no stopping the good thing a lot of these bookies have going on, and its high time we fought back. How do we fight back exactly? Well the best way is to avoid their quick fix offers and develop a proper betting strategy to back winners and make an overall profit. You don’t even need huge sums of money or time to do this and let me illustrate this more. I was taking a look at a portfolio of betting services, featuring only 3 of the cheapest (and best) tipsters we recommend here. For a cost of effectively £43 a month for their subscriptions, you could have made £2754 profit over a year, by staking between £10 and £20 on each bet. Its not exactly rocket science or hard work either. All it takes is knowing who to follow, the best staking plans to maximise profits and the dedication to follow for a year. All of which of course, we do for you via our Secret Betting Club Whether you are a high stakes roller, lunchtime gambler, weekend only bettor or absolute beginner there is nothing to stop you taking back a slice of the profits bookies like William Hill are making. Until next Friday… Terry Allen 2. The Next Week In Betting The Australian Open gets underway on Monday with Scotland’s very own Andy Murray now 5/2 best priced favourite to win down in sunny Melbourne. He may have the big guns and be in stunning form but to me that’s a short price for a player who has yet to win his first Grand Slam and I wont be taking it. Rafa Nadal is a large looking 9/2 best priced with Totesport and that appeals in terms of value, whilst last years winner Novak Djokovic is 6/1 with VCbet. The Womens market sees the two Williams sisters dominate market and we have seen Venus come in for support recently, down from 9/2 into 3/1 and at that price it looks a tad too short in terms of value, however much she appeals. It’s been a cracking few weeks in January so far in terms of football and it only looks like hotting up on that front over the next few months. We have had Benitez’s outburst, Man City throwing their money around, and not forgetting the week's hottest news - Newcastle have signed Gazza's 7 year old nephew after he scored 22 goals in one 30 minute junior game. This weekend sees Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal with 3 games they would expect to win against Bolton, Stoke & Hull respectively, although the Gooners look to have the hardest task away at Phil Brown’s team who did for them at the Emirates. If you think lightning will strike twice, Hull are a best priced 5/1 with Stan James. The big clash though is the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Monday night in a game that will go a long way to deciding the title, as Everton are in rare form and will be in need of no motivation to win this one. As always these games are normally quite tight and with Everton’s likely 4-6-0 formation and Liverpool shot-shy at home, it should be no different. Mikel Arteta is in inspired form (take note Mr Wenger!) and scored an absolute diamond of a free-kick last week and he is 18/1 to be first goalscorer with Blue Square and 7/1 anytime goalscorer with Paddy Power. Elsewhere we have the conclusion of the Snooker Masters although we can assume Ronnie O’Sullivan wont be too bothered about it after his comments this week. Apparently Max Clifford has offered to step in to no doubt ‘sex up’ the once popular sport. Oh for the days of characters such as Big Bill Werbeniuk who due to a medical condition used to drink 6 pints of lager before each game and then 1 pint for every frame! Werbeniuk's last recorded professional match was in the preliminary rounds of the 1990 World Championships: a 10-1 defeat to Nigel Bond. In the post-match interview, he declared: “I've had 24 pints of extra strong lager and eight double vodkas and I'm still not drunk.” ******************************************************************************** Featuring up to date and full reviews of some of the most talked about tipping services (good and bad) 3. Tipping Legends Column At level weights, it would seem that he has only to put in a clear round to collect, and the current odds of 2/7 look very generous if you care to back horses at short odds on.Whist I am in no way recommending backing odds on, I really do think his price should be very much shorter, like 1/6 ! There are serious question marks about his 4 rivals in my opinion. David Pipe's horses are not running well, otherwise this represents decent EW value They all collect prize money if they put in a clear round, 1st. £79,000 2nd £30,000 3rd £15000 4th £7000 & 5th £4000. In fact 5th prize is the average first prize for winning a 3 mile chase at the grade 3 tracks! Good Luck, but above all enjoy your racing. Visit The Tipping Legends Website 4. The Winabobatoo Weekender After the recent cold snap, there’s every chance we’re going to have a full programme of matches this weekend. The betting opportunities for home wins look a bit thin on the ground with plenty of short-priced games around. In the main, in the way of potential value, they offer little prospect of serious long-term profits. I aim to better 50% winners with the average odds of the winners in the region of 13/10. Much of the time, it pays to back the better teams who are playing away. This week we will go for Oldham to win at Hereford. Oldham are one of the better teams in League One and Hereford are one of the worst teams in the league. Couple that with Oldham having a very good Winabobatoo Form rating, and it suggests the bookies’ odds are too long. Bet365 currently have Oldham priced at 10/11 (1.91) but Ladbrokes and Corals are going 6/5 (2.20). This is a classic example of price being everything. I expect Oldham to win 50% of the time. If we back them at 10/11, and they win 50% of the time we will get back 95.50 points for every 100 points we stake, so we’d make a loss. If we back them at 6/5 (2.20) and they win 50% of the time, we will get 110 points back for every 100 we stake, and make a profit. The ultimate key to profitable, successful betting is to bet when the odds on offer more than cover the risk: 6/5 does, 10/11 doesn’t! Have a bet on Oldham to win at Hereford at 6/5 (2.20) available with Ladbrokes and Corals Good luck with your betting. Mike Lindley (www.winabobatoo.co.uk )

Skeeve's Non-League Hi everybody, Another busy Friday – and hopefully another profitable Saturday tomorrow. I could write novels about midweek bets, Blue Square's shocking decision regarding the FA Cup match between Droylsden and Chesterfield, but, there will be plenty of time for writing about all these things in June and July – I'd rather focus on the weekend non-league matches and this is one of the more obvious picks for tomorrow. 17/1/2009 BLUE SQUARE SOUTH Fisher – NEWPORT 2 (2.10 @Skybet) 4 units Fisher are another non-league team that will have a long season – they did manage to sign a couple of players lately (their transfer embargo has been lifted), but they've also lost some important players. Newport should have way too much for Fisher's inexperienced squad – Fisher have failed to score a league goal at home since September (0:2 to Hampton, 0:1 to Chelmsford, 0:3 to Thurrock, 0:1 to Bognor, 0:2 to Bromley, 0:3 to Wimbledon). Newport have also lost a couple of players lately, but they've just brought in three new players, they have a superior and more experienced squad, their defence is improving. In addition, they have finally had two consecutive wins (1:0 vs Worcester, 3:1 vs league leaders Chelmsford), Reid scored a hat-trick against mighty Chelmsford and I can't see them losing this match – I just hope it's not going to be another unlucky draw.
(2.10 also at Bet365 and Bwin, 2.08 currently at Betfair btw, 2.05 at Paddy Power...) Read our review of Skeeve's service 6. Everyone needs a backup!
