Terry Says This week I have been getting my thinking cap on the idea that it doesn’t matter what you bet on as long as it makes you money. I readily admit I would bet on a Bulgarian Women’s shot-putting event if I could make a 10% edge on it as I just don’t give two hoots what sport or event it is, if it makes me cash. Recently on my travels I told someone I met about my pro betting occupation and they laughed, saying… ‘You English will bet on anything, you’re crazy’ and I had to laugh along with them as it’s so true! Tiddlywinks, one man and his dog, pie eating competitions, I would bet on it if I knew over a year I would make say 10% + return on my investment. You see I also rarely if ever watch an event live that I have a bet on if I can help it as it does me absolutely no good. Even if its just £10 you still find yourself screaming at the TV urging your bet on, telling them how fat and lazy they are when the bet loses etc... I suppose what I want to say is, are you betting to get a rush from watching an event that can make or lose you money? Or are you doing it coldly just from the point of view of making a profit long-term. If you’re the former I would dare to suggest you may struggle! I’m a cold hearted guy when it comes to my bets. I look at the win/loss and update my spreadsheet. Its just figures on a screen to me and that’s how I do it best. If you have a different angle do let me know I would love to hear from you. It is worth noting today that the Auto Lays website at autolays.co.uk appears to be out of action and not before time. Here at the Secret Betting Club we have spoken widely about why you should all avoid this website and the extremely doubtful claims it has made. We believe as well that whoever is behind Auto Lays was also behind a similar website called www.125bets.com, who’s website now also has the same test page as Auto Lays. Hopefully we have seen the back of these 2 website’s for now but we must be vigilant for the next project they dream up. Until next Friday… Terry Allen
2. The Next Week In Betting England got a lesson in Rugby last week and it doesn’t get any easier with the All Blacks in town this Saturday. It’s not a question of whether New Zealand will win but by how many with them a stupidly short 1.07 to win outright. You can pick up NZ to win with an -19 handicap for 10/11 with William Hill. If you really fancy the All Blacks to run riot you can get 6/1 on them with a -35 handicap at Ladbrokes which looks a punt to me. England were beaten by 36 last week by South Africa and the All Blacks are a better team in my opinion. Sky Sports will no doubt be getting their knickers in a twist with Chelsea hosting Arsenal this Sunday, with the Gunners in crisis and Chelsea far from their best lately. Arsene Wenger’s men are without a host of key players and have lost their last 2 away games at Stoke and Man City. For me the 1.8 with Chelsea outright from Bet365 looks value, I make them shorter than that. There is also the small matter of the Manchester derby earlier on Sunday and I would be hopeful of seeing a few goals as Man City are setup to attack and look far from solid at the back. Over 2.5 goals is where I would look and is best priced 1.8 with Bet365. Very sad to see the violence out in India over the past few days which has had the knock-on effect of cancelling the last 2 one-day internationals and a potential 7-0 series whitewash for the home team. My bet on Owais Shah to be top batsman came in at 9/1 as he just pipped the captain Kevin Pietersen. Shah’s innings in the last 2 games should make him very rich with a bumper IPL contract surely winging his way after the way he has performed this series. I will be keeping a keen eye on these outright markets in the Cricket, very often value can be found and there is plenty action coming up over the next few months.

Tipping Legends Column There is no Denman running this year, and this is not a star studded field by any means. I took a look at this race over the past 10 years and the average price of winners is around 7/1 with the biggest outsider being priced at 16/1. This certainly looks a race unsuitable to big outsiders. Visit The Tipping Legends Website
4. The Winabobatoo Weekender It’s a strange betting phenomenon that we have winning runs and losing runs. No matter who we are, we have them. No one is exempt and because of this, successful betting must always be viewed as a long-term business. The tips I gave to my members made a loss of 3.14 points in September, and we were slow to get going in October, before we turned September’s loss around into a profit. In November, we’ve made a profit of 17.34 points so far – all bets are single win football bets on the home team or away team to win in 90 minutes. It would be great if we knew when the losing runs were going to happen, or when the winning runs were going to begin, but we can’t. We’d have side-stepped September if we’d known! It’s only when we look back that we can see where they start and end. September has been the only losing month since before the start of last season, so it does have to be kept in some sort of context. Onto this weekend: It’s FA Cup weekend again. Cup games are too tricky and unpredictable and therefore we stick to the bread and butter league fixtures. Winabobatoo members were on Wigan to beat Everton last Monday night at 2.50 (6/4), and they obliged. They have an easier task this weekend at home to West Brom. My unique ratings have West Brom at the bottom of the Premiership pile. Wigan have a better chance on Saturday against them, than they did against Everton but the bookies know that as well! We can’t get any 2.50, and we’ll have to settle for 1.83 (5/6) on offer at Hills. My calculations suggest Wigan will win around 6 times in 10, which means the odds of 1.83 are too long. The bookies ought to have priced it at 1.62 (8/13). Mike Lindley (www.winabobatoo.co.uk) Interested in Winabobatoo? Hi everybody, Last weekend's free pick was a failure, sorry about that (five units lost there), but with all those Sunday and midweek bets I had after that bad Saturday, it seems like it was ages ago. Let's hope this is going to be another successful free pick – the value is there alright. BLUE SQUARE SOUTH NEWPORT – Bishop's Stortford 1 (1.83 @ Paddy Power) 6 units Newport have finally won two consecutive matches (1:0 at Maidenhead, 3:0 at Andover in the FA Trophy), for the first time this season, their defending is getting better and better (only one goal conceded in the last three, two consecutive clean sheets), they've just signed three very good players on loan (Cook and Turk from Salisbury, Klein-Davies from Bristol), they have a couple of players returning after injuries and suspensions and Bishop's Stortford should prove to be the easiest home match for Newport so far (they lost to Wimbledon, Havant, St Albans and Hayes at home, but they also managed to beat Bromley and Hampton). Bishop's Stortford are currently a mess, they're still without a proper manager, they scored only one goal in the last five matches (0:2 to Dorchester, 0:1 to Fisher, 1:3 to Hampton, 0:0 vs Tiverton, 0:1 at Tiverton in the FA Trophy replay this Wednesday), they're the second worst away team in BS South (a win at Bognor, a draw at ten-men Chelmsford and five defeats in seven away matches), they've picked up a couple of injuries at Tiverton and although money isn't everything, it's always important and their budget isn't what it used to be. The last three matches between these teams played at Newport were all home wins (1:0, 4:1, 1:0 last season).
